Kaleb is an average-sized cat. His piercing green eyes that are speckled with a light chocolate brown look as if they can see your soul, all your deep secrets, your true colors, in short. Around his eyes are onyx black outlines that bring out his eyes even more. When you first meet him, your first feelings are most likely afraid; shocked, even, as they are so intense. From behind, his triangular ears are the color of brown leaves in leaf-fall. Kaleb’s small nose is pinkish, peach-like. His long ivory whiskers are as soft as feathers. His tabby markings are a darker orange, somewhat brownish. Kaleb has small graceful paws the color of creamy milk, the color of cold snow. His long, sharp claws are a dark onyx shade that looks as if they can rip you apart in a few swipes. His tail is long, with darker orange stripes encircling it.
Kaleb is a nice cat, though kinda emotionless. He rarely smiles, just keeps a straight face, a poker face, you might say. He is usually polite with people he doesn’t know, but when he knows you and trusts you, his inner side comes out. He is actually a fun cat inside. You might call him repressed, but he is just simply emotionless to strangers. He is witty and sarcastic; when someone is sad, he tries to make that person happy. The thing is, he has this huge guilt problem. When he sees someone cry or he offends someone, an immediate ‘sorry’ follows. Kaleb finds this habit of his annoying. Sometimes, other cats find this annoying, too, because sometimes if they do something that they did not want to, he says sorry instead of thank you. Kaleb amuses himself by watching Twolegs, usually sitting on top of their fence. He doesn’t eat what they give him; he prefers to hunt. He drinks the milk that they give him, though. He is quite a good hunter, but he prefers not to fight. He would rather settle arguments using logic, not strength.History:
Birth…RP Example:
Melody narrowed her eyes to slits. “How do I know you’re not cheating on me?” she asked Kalvin in a low, quiet voice. “I swear, Melody, I’m not seeing another cat.” the liar said. She knew that he was seeing another cat. She just knew it. “Fine. I’ll stay with you until our kits are ten moons. Then I’ll leave.” she said, growling. Then the growling suddenly stopped. “OW!” she screamed, panting. “What’s wrong, Melody?” he asked his so-called mate. “The kittens are coming!” Blood was pooling out of her. Kalvin just watched, dumbstruck. “I won’t make it; they’re coming too early. Please take care of the kits until they’re ten moons. Please…” she said, and then kits suddenly started coming out. One… Two… Three. “The one that looks like me is Kaleb. The brown tabby she-cat is Music. And the… calico that looks like you is Keith. Goodbye…” Kalvin sobbed. Even if I was cheating on her, I still care about her… he thought. Then he remembered the little kits. The small calico had stopped wailing. Oh no…
6 Moons...
"Dad, we wanna know about our mother, and why Kaleb and I never see her." a small brown tabby said, determination in her voice. Her brother just nodded, watching Kalvin's reaction. The calico tom looked away quickly. When he finally looked at his children, they were surprised to find that his amber eyes were filled with sadness, loneliness, and shame. Then he began, words flowing as if he was telling a story. “Your mother, Melody, accused me of cheating on her a few minutes before you three were born. Sh-” Music cut Kalvin off. “Huh? Three? There’s only me and Kaleb!” “Did you really love Mother?” “Will you really leave us when we’re ten moons old?” “Did you really cheat on her?” “What happened to her and our other sibling?” The questions started pouring out. “Let me finish. Then I’ll answer your questions.” Kalvin said, looking at his kits sternly. “As I was saying… She started bleeding, and she felt that you three were coming. She told me that when you grew up to be ten moons, I had to leave you. Her... he last breath was used to say goodbye to me and to name you; Kaleb, Music, and Keith. Your brother… After your mother had stopped... stopped breathing, I had sobbed for some time. When I finally remembered you kits, Keith had stopped wailing; stopped breathing.” Kalvin then began sobbing at the memory. After he had sobbed his heart out, he looked at Music, and then at Kaleb, who reminded him so much of Melody. “Now, to answer your questions. You already know what happened to your mother and Keith. I loved your mother very much, more than you can comprehend. I have to leave you; it was Melody’s dying wish... And...” he paused, and looked away. “Yes, I had cheated on her. I was a young and careless tom then, very different from who I am now. I know it is just sick to ask for forgiveness, but will you please forgive me?” Kalvin asked, avoiding the gazes of his children.” “Of course we’ll forgive you. Love is unconditional, Father.” Music said, smiling, tears overflowing. “I agree. You had mistakes in the past, but at least you have learned that it was wrong. Anyway, we can’t hate you, ‘cause we’re family.” Kaleb said, smiling slightly at his father, holding back his tears. “Thank you...” was all Kalvin could say, who, too, was crying. Kaleb looked at the rising sun, thinking, All is right with the world right now, I suppose. A single tear slowly fell from one of his lime green eyes.
10 Moons…
The average-sized calico tom nudged the two sleeping cats. “Wake, up, Kaleb. I’m leaving now...” Kaleb’s green eyes slowly opened, and then he quickly stood up, his brain recognizing what his father had said. “Music! Father’s about to leave, wake up!” The small tabby shot up. “Eh? Father, please don’t leave us, please don’t...” she said, almost begging. “Please don’t leave us, Father.” Kaleb said, green eyes intense. “I am so sorry, but I have to. I promised your Melody...” After Kalvin said her name aloud, there was silence. The orange tabby tom sighed. “Alright. But if you want to find us again, we’ll be heading west, to the Twoleg nests and the Clans. I guess this is goodbye...” “Goodbye, Music. Goodbye, Kaleb. I shall never forget about you...” then he turned around and left, running. The two cats looked at each other after their father can no longer be seen. “I suppose all we have now is each other, right, brother?” Music said to Kaleb in a sad little voice. “Yes… yes we do, Music.”
11 ½ Moons…
A young orange tabby watched the Twoleg kits run around. As he put his nose up, he smelled a cat scent from behind a bramble bush near him. The tom narrowed his eyes calmly. Then, Kaleb saw a tabby tail waving about. “You can come out now, Music. I can see your tail.” He said, the edges of his lips curling upward. He heard a gusty sigh. “Why are you spying on me, Music?” he asked his sister. She rolled her midnight blue eyes. “I wasn’t spying on you, furball. I was watching the Twoleg kits.” In his mind, all the puzzle pieces suddenly clicked together. “You want to be a kittypet and live with these Twolegs. That’s why you kept coming with me when I watch them.” He said in an empty voice. “I’m sorry for not telling you sooner.” The brown tabby she-cat said, bowing her head in shame. The tom sighed. “It’s okay. You can join them. Just don’t forget about me, okay??” he asked sullenly. “I would never.” Music said firmly. “Goodbye, Music. If ever you grow tired of your Twolegs and want to find me, remember that I’m heading West towards the Clans we’ve always heard about. I won’t join, though. So goodbye, Music, my sister…” Kaleb said, staring at Music dumbly, the tears he tried not to show flowing freely, and left hours later, heading west, pawstep by pawstep. To this day, he roams lands as a Loner. Occasionally he remembers his family; even his dead mother and brother...
